Solar Power in Action: Year 6's Solar Farm Trip
On Monday, 16th September, Year 6 students at Cropwell Bishop Primary School kicked off an exciting week of renewable energy exploration. Led by the EEE (Earth Energy Education) Team, the students participated in a hands-on workshop focused on solar power. The interactive session introduced the children to how solar panels generate electricity, with opportunities to experiment with solar batteries. The workshop offered a unique learning experience, sparking curiosity about sustainable energy sources.
The following day, Tuesday, 17th September, Year 6 embarked on a field trip to the Langar Lane Solar Farm. During the visit, students saw renewable energy in action, gaining an eye-opening perspective on how solar energy is harnessed on a large scale. The tour helped the students understand how solar farms contribute to a cleaner, greener world, and the vital role they play in creating a sustainable future.
The Solar Farm Trip was a valuable experience, blending education with real-world examples of renewable energy, and providing Year 6 with knowledge they can carry into their studies—and beyond.
