Class 3 Welcomes Oliver Wakefield from the British Geological Survey
On Monday, 7th October, Class 3 at Cropwell Bishop Primary School had the pleasure of hosting Oliver Wakefield from the British Geological Survey. Oliver shared insights into his work at the Geological Survey, including the protective equipment he has to wear, such as a hard hat, ear defenders, and high-visibility clothing.
Oliver brought an exciting selection of sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks for the class to explore. He explained the unique properties of each type of rock and how they are used in our everyday lives.
In addition to the rocks, Oliver also introduced the students to a fascinating range of fossils and gave them the opportunity to examine the rocks and fossils up close using eye pieces.
It was a hands-on, engaging session that brought science to life in our classroom. A big thank you to Oliver for such an informative and enjoyable visit!
